Jimmie’s aviation career started after returning from the military. He began working at Bell Helicopter in Amarillo, TX. while attending A&P school at Texas State Technical Institute. Upon finishing school and receiving his A&P / IA license, he spent the next 12 years working as a Service Manager, maintaining Beechcraft, Cessna, Piper, single engine, twin engine, reciprocating and turbine powered aircraft. The next 14 yrs were spent in corporate aviation, working in Amarillo and Dallas for T. Boone Pickens’ aviation department at Mesa Petroleum. While there he performed inspections and maintained a Falcon 50, Lear 35A, and King Air 200. When the aviation department closed, he was hired at Bell Helicopter as a Flight Line Inspector in the V-22 Program. Just a short 2 years later, T. Boone Pickens called, he was buying another airplane and offered him a job. He spent the next 13 years as Director of Maintenance, maintaining a Gulfstream G-IV SP, a G- 550, and a Bell 430 helicopter. In 2016 he retired after the aviation department closed. Jimmie met Mike Jefferson and Mike Gray owners of J&G Aviation in 2018 and was immediately offered a job. He enjoys working on aircraft and applying his experience and skills by mentoring young people new to aviation maintenance.
