Mike Jefferson, CEO, partner, and founder of J&G Aviation is a certified Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic who has been with the company since its inception in mid-2015. His passion for aviation began in childhood, growing up under the vast skies of Ohio, Michigan, and rural Kentucky. This lifelong love of flying has been the backbone of his career, which began when he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1980 and continues today in his role as co-founder and CEO of J&G Aviation.
During his military service, Mike flew F-4 and F-15 fighter jets, including combat missions in Desert Storm. While stationed in Germany, he became a member of a
German glider club, furthering his passion for aviation. In 1992, he transitioned from active duty in the U.S. Air Force to the Louisiana Air National Guard, continuing his
career in fighter aviation while also flying for a major U.S. airline. After 24 years of distinguished service, Mike retired as a Colonel in 2006. His military career was marked
by several key roles, including USAF Fighter Weapons School graduate, Instructor Pilot, Weapons Officer, Chief of Safety, Squadron Operations Officer, Fighter Squadron
Commander, and Fighter Wing Commander. Along the way, he developed extensive expertise in both military and civilian aircraft maintenance.
In 2015, Mike earned his A&P certification. He also holds several FAA ratings, including A&P, ATP Airplane Multiengine Land, Commercial Airplane Single Engine & Glider, and Instructor Instrument Airplane.
When he's not "flying or fixing," Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchild. He is always eager to involve them in his favorite activities, which include flying of all kinds, snow skiing, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and traveling.
